Sahara Hotnights

Posted on 30 March 2010 by milkyteakid

Here we have Swedish all female rock band Sahara Hotnights. They have a mixture of mainstream pop/rock songs, rock songs and some mellow tunes too, always catchy though I find.

I think they are pretty big over in Sweden, but not well known elsewhere. I haven’t seen them live, but would like to. Have you?

This video is one of the first songs I heard from them years ago – Hot Night Crash.

Trivia: The name came from a racehorse name… I think!

Felix Fables

Zach Fox went along to see Felix Fables play at the Underbelly, read his review below…

Hoxton Square, Zigfrid Von Underbelly and down a candle lit stairwell is a very intimate venue. Candles, mood lighting, interesting furniture and occasionally you’ll find Felix Fables charming audiences with their unique blend of folkesque rock. Playing first they set a high bar for the rest of the evening and even with the talented Georgia Mason missing from the line up they still didn’t disappoint.

Their set seemed like the soundtrack to my whole year and with an EP in the near future this seems likely to be the case. I felt inspired listening to “Acorn“, with a very different rendition of “Thought You Were The One” (brilliantly done I may add) and “Blues Song” which brought the classic 12 bar up-to date with fiery melodies and rocking rhythm, forced people to tap their feet, sing along and make their way to the dance floor.

Check out www.myspace.com/felixfables for upcoming gigs and to find out all about the band.

Michael Jackson – Leave Me Alone

Posted on 28 March 2010 by milkyteakid

This is one of my favourites from Michael Jackson. The video was co-directed by him and basically portrays how the media saw him as a bit of a circus. Through out the video there are shots depicting rumours or incidents during his career up until that point.

I have been listening to the Bad album lately, great songs and remembering Moonwalker. It made total sense to me as a child, is that worrying?!

Thankfully now, it makes no sense at all!

Tilted Smile

Trio Tilted Smile have had some great experiences so far most notably recording at Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash recorded there, that’s pretty cool to have in your bio!

I saw this band in London when I went to see a friend’s band play, and although they were the first act and there was not a big crowd their live show and performance was really good!

Very energetic, entertaining, with great vocals and good songs. Had a chat with them at the end, very cool lads. Great rock band, with a great live show, check them out if they play near you.

American Bang

Check out American Bang, a Southern rock band, with melodic riffs, sing along choruses and a fun live rock show.

Vocals reminiscent of Kings Of Leon, I put that down to the Southern twang and whiskey!

Have a listen to the Move To The Music EP on Spotify : HERE

They have a new album coming out Spring 2010!
