OK so it has come to this time of the year again, no not Christmas, no not New Year’s Eve, no… not even post Christmas sales! I’m talking about the review of 2010, which was an interesting year of newcomers, Internet sensations, comeback Kings and Queens and much more.
Unlike many other similar blog topics I have seen, I have decided to involve you in my round up of 2010. I could just tell you what I think and you could agree or disagree and move on… but I want you to join in and tell me which artists blew your mind in 2010, which albums were so impressive you had to put your cup of herbal tea down to fully soak it in, and which songs play over and over in your head like a broken record.
I will mention a couple who really impressed me, then let me ‘av it! Who do you want to mention?
This lady makes songwriting and performing look so easy and I first found out about her from a friend who sent me this video of her performing Everywhere I Go with Ellie Goulding. After finding out more about this great singer I received the album and I genuinely really like every song on it and that doesn’t happen very often!
Then I decided it was about time to meet Lissie and find out a bit more for Milky Tea Kid and you lot. Here is the Interview with Lissie.
That was earlier in 2010 and since then she has been touring up a storm across the UK and Europe as well as her homeland of the US. She was high up on festival bills and seems to be non stop for her. Seeing her live is a great experience to top it all off, she has a raw emotion filled voice with great songs. Although the set up is often a basic 3 person band, the sound is always immense and full of tasty goodness.
Jessie J is another artist I have watched from small London clubs through to much bigger venues and much bigger press. She is definitely making an impressive entrance into the forefront of the music industry and public eye, but she is down to earth, she has heaps of experience in the industry already and she knows what she wants and how to get there. A recipe for success you think?
Her debut album is being released middle of 2011, but having just won a Brit Award for Critic’s Choice I think word will spread before it’s release. Seeing Jessie J live is a whole other experience and I can only suggest you get to a gig, there is no real way to describe it! She is a phenomenal singer (Justin Timberlake called her the best singer in the world right now), you know… not bad!
We interviewed Jessie and it confirmed everything, she is definitely going to be a huge star. Jessie J Interview
OK there we are, I have started it off with two of my favourites from 2010 (worn myself out a bit too)! So tell me… who deserves the recognition?
