The London Riots that have been going on in and around Greater London have been affecting the communities, local businesses and residents for the past few days. Now we are learning that the music industry has been affected in a number of ways as well.
Music Venues targeted by Rioters
When Camden was hit late last night, rioters caused damage to the famous Electric Ballroom music venue, although thankfully they did not set fire to it. With all this going on the Police advised a lockdown at The Roundhouse in Camden, keeping the concert goers inside the venue and closing the station.
Sony DADC Warehouse Burns to the Ground
The PIAS Distribution/Sony DADC warehouse in Enfield was set alight after looters got what they wanted and has subsequently been burnt to the ground. The independent labels will be most affected as their stock was all in one place, the larger labels may be less affected.

‘The bastards have burnt down a warehouse in London where loads of our albums were being stored!’
@RobdaBank (Rob da Bank)
‘so looks like all our Sunday Best stock went up in flames last night in the PIAS blaze’
@roughtradeshops (rough trade shops)
‘Our largest INDEPENDENT supplier Pias got burnt 2 the ground last night, best to all staff,labels that lost stock. no injuries’
