A talent competition for politically minded up and coming bands is here but make sure you enter quickly as there are only a few days left for applications. Don’t worry too much about the political side of things though, it just happens that Rock The House was founded by Mike Weatherley MP and is a Parliamentary live music and venue competition. Once you have applied via BandApp (details on how to do so are on the website) MPs will nominate their favourite act out of the entrants and a panel of music industry experts will then decide upon the finalists. Some patrons of the competition include Alice Cooper, Mark Hoppus, Ian Gillan, Charlie Simpson, Matt Tuck, Rick Wakeman and Yngwie Malmsteen!
From Rock The House, “The aim of the competition is to raise the political profile of the importance of intellectual property rights, and live music, among Parliamentarians.” This definitely can not be a bad thing as a whole, so why not enter your band into the competition? There are a number of categories even including Best Small Venue and with a long list of prizes with more to be announced it seems like a worthwhile competition to enter if you think you are the next big thing.
Head over to rockthehousehoc.com to find out more information and get applying. Applications close on 1st March 2013.
