Let’s talk about some interesting new music shall we? Not a bad way to start 2014 I don’t think! I have come across an artist called St. Vincent – aka Annie Clark. I’m pretty darn happy to see someone creating music that is a big outside of the box but will probably still be lapped up by the mainstream. It’s distorted, it’s rough, with smooth synths and electric guitars, all underneath a strong and confident vocal.
Her self-titled 4th album… yes that’s right her 4th album (I feel annoyed I have only just heard of her) is released on 24th February 2014. Her track ‘Digital Witness‘ was on BBC 6 Music’s Breakfast Show this morning and was featured as the Song of The Week. The track tackles identity in the era of Instagram, with Clark singing, “If I can’t show it / If you can’t see me / What’s the point of doing anything?” Now, I’m not sure how heartfelt those lyrics are but maybe she has a point!
Pre-orders of the album on iTunes will get an instant download of Digital Witness beginning 14th January. You can pre-order the album now if you like what you hear.
St. Vincent will be touring in Europe in February, will you be going along?
