It’s been a non-stop busy ride on this trip and LA has proven to be just as hectic as New York! I have done a couple of interviews so far with a few more lined up before I head back to London and I’ve also had a couple of meetings with industry people that have opened up lots of doors. If there is one thing I will take from this trip it is connecting with people is SO important (also chat to random people, you never know who they might be or know.)
Yesterday I headed to the beautiful downtown Burbank to meet up with very successful YouTuber, Mike Tompkins and his wife. They are a lovely couple and it was nice to talk to people who weren’t from LA about life in LA! If you are not aware of the talents of this guy then just head over to Mike Tompkins’s YouTube Channel to watch a few of his videos and you will get an idea. We did a cool interview and the video will be up on the Milky Tea Kid YouTube Channel and here on the blog soon, so check back!
I then headed to the Los Feliz area to meet up with Brett Anderson, the singer of The Donnas as well as a couple of other bands, The Stripminers and Alpha/Beta. We drove to Griffith Park and hung out with the wildlife (I’m talking coyotes!) while we did the interview. It was interesting to get insight from someone who has been in bands for about 20 years in the industry now. This interview will also be up on the Milky Tea Kid YouTube channel and here on the blog. Make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss out.
Then today I met up with a contact at Concord Music Group in Beverly Hills, which is a very nice area to walk around as you might imagine. No famous faces to report I’m afraid, but maybe I’m just oblivious! It was great to connect and talk music from different sides of the Atlantic. I also came away with a nice stash of music to listen to. Now I’m off to Amoeba to buy some vinyl… will they let me on the plane with all this music?!
Keep checking back, more news to come!
