You find gems like this every now and again, and it excites you because you realise there are some very talented people out there making music for the sake of expressing themselves in an art form. That is the feeling I get when listening to ‘Ballet’, the new single from Samuel Ford.
Ford intertwines immediate melodies and literate lyrics with intricate rhythms that soar from the darkest chasms to atmospheres of uplifting melancholy.
A talent that plays double bass, cello, guitar and piano/keyboards as well as writing, arranging and notating all of his own music. New track ‘Ballet’ is the first to be heard from upcoming release ‘EP 1′, which is set for release in May 2015.
On his new track, Samuel said “I wrote ‘Ballet’ as a kind of song-painting about the constant two-way struggle and tug of war as a relationship unfurls. Whilst the disintegration is always biased and one sided for one person, it is equally the same for the other – leaving an almost dance-like introspective inspection to take place.”
