Have you heard RIP by Rita Ora yet? When I heard the first minute of the song the melody immediately reminded me of Canadian artist The Weeknd, it sounded very similar. (Check out The Weeknd’s Free Mixtapes here and see what you think).
Behind the scenes of the making of the RIP music video feat. Tinie Tempah below:
Beyonce has a new live DVD coming out called ‘Live at Roselands: Elements of 4′ filmed in New York. It is released on November 29th in perfect time for Christmas, well done marketing team. (Yes I do want it, hint hint.)
I believe there are 26 songs on the DVD and if it is anything like the previous DVDs it will be rather good. For a preview have a watch of these two videos below.
I’m struggling a little to keep up with the workhorse that is Beyoncé! OK, maybe that is a slight exaggeration but it seems like she releases a new music video for a new song every other week at the moment.
First off we have Love On Top:
Then we had Countdown (which had some legal issues to do with plagiarism, not for the song but for the look and style of the video as well as the dance moves.)
What Beyoncé had to say about this issue was:
“Clearly, the ballet ‘Rosas danst Rosas’ was one of many references for my video ‘Countdown.’ It was one of the inspirations used to bring the feel and look of the song to life.”
“I was also paying tribute to the film, ‘Funny Face’ with the legendary Audrey Hepburn. My biggest inspirations were the ’60s, the ’70s, Brigitte Bardot, Andy Warhol, Twiggy and Diana Ross. I’ve always been fascinated by the way contemporary art uses different elements and references to produce something unique.”
And finally the most recent music video to be released is one for Party feat. J.Cole.
Now that the dust has settled what with Beyonce being pregnant and Lady Gaga changing sex I thought we could discuss the some of the performances at the MTV VMAs this year. Join me?
Someone who made an entrance and got everyone talking before the actual awards was Beyonce when she turned up revealing she is preggers, but moving on from that she also did an awesome performance of Love On Top. With a ‘revealing’ ending… in case you didn’t get the news.
Then there was Lady Gaga… as a man… or an alter ego, I’m not entirely sure what it was all about. I will say that it was weirder than the time she turned up in an egg. One amazing part of her performance was the appearance of Brian May part way through her song, Dave Grohl can also be seen enjoying this too!
Adele represented the British with a performance of Someone Like You, but I have to say I think her similar performance at the Brit Awards was much better – what did you think?
I enjoyed seeing Young The Giant perform at the awards, they did a great performance especially the front person. If you want to check out the interview I did with them you can do so here.
Then there was Bruno Mars performing Valerie as part of a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, I quite liked his version but I feel they could have found someone more linked to Amy to do a performance… maybe.
All in all it was a decent VMAs this year but nothing spectacular!
… Beyoncé we get it, you are gorgeous. Put some clothes on!
It is a pretty basic concept for a music video, but I guess there has to be something less epic than Run The World. I am a fan of the song though, and it has some good lyrics in there too. “Thank God I found the good in goodbye”.
