I Am In Love – Alphabeat’s Experimental younger sibling?

Posted on 03 May 2011 by milkyteakid

I Am In Love ‘is a name that derives from a realisation that their singer is indeed in love and not just a boy who doesn’t know what love is.’ … Straight to the point and honest, if not slightly predictable but it fits hand in hand with the style of music.

They are four boys and one girl from Leicestershire and yes I did wonder if they could be a sibling to the pop world’s Alphabeat… albeit a slightly unhinged sibling.

Their debut single I Want You is released through Robot Needs Home Records on 16th May. Take a listen:

Au Revoir Simone

Au Revoir Simone are an electronic dream pop band from NYC. Yes dream pop… apparently ‘dream pop’ is a subgenre of alternative rock that originated in the UK in the mid-1980s, when bands began fusing post-punk and ethereal experiments with bittersweet pop melodies into sensual, sonically ambitious soundscapes.

The third and most recent album from Au Revoir Simone is called Still Night, Still Light and was released last year, I would recommend checking it out. More recently they released an album called Night Light which includes remixes of their previous album. More spaced out electronic sounding that the original, however still ‘dreamy’. I think they would be HUGE in Japan!

The band Paper Route are an American band from Nashville – but they ain’t country y’all!

… I promise to never do that again.

They are an ambient pop rock band, and I’m tempted to say a more modern American Snow Patrol [edit], but just take a listen on their myspace and make your own mind up.

They were recommended to me by my friend Maren, who is a talented photographer. See www.marenfarra.com for killer shots of Paper Route and many more.

Carousel is the most popular song from fans as far as I can tell from feedback, and has been the one I was listening to the most. I also recommend Are We All Forgotten.

I have been told they were an amazing band live, and they are definitely on my list of bands to see.

p.s. should the fact that I thought the camels in the background were perfectly rational worry me at all?

Beanfield feat. Bajka – Home

Following on from the post below on Bajka… here is the track she did with Beanfield.

Chill out tracks are best served with a warm beverage… in my opinion!

Radio Citizen feat. Bajka

This is The Hop by Radio Citizen feat. Bajka. This was one of those songs you hear in a movie and you wait for the end credits to try to find the name and search the web using a couple of lyrics that you remember… no?… just me?

This song had great groove and an unusual sound which I love. The singing also reminded me a little of Erykah Badu. So if you like her voice, try this out for your ears.

Worth searching for more of Bajka, she has featured on tracks with Bonobo and Beanfield. I’m sure I will be blogging about these other bands in the future.
