Well known for their inventive one take music videos, OK Go have done it again with their video for Needing/Getting. Made in partnership with Chevrolet, naturally they set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck. Here is the music video for the first single from Kaleidoscope Heart, the second album coming from Sara Bareilles. The album is released in September and is a piano laden catchy pop album, should be good!
EDIT: The video was taken down… US viewers can see it here but UK viewers will have to make do with the trailer below for now!
I think it is a cool arty video – the cutlery piano is a great idea! And handclaps… all songs should have handclaps. The End.

A friend told me about this video, and I think it is a cool concept. It is quirky and works well with the song, which in itself is a good pop tune. I admit I was singing along with the “woh-o-uh-oh’s” and the “woo-oo-oo’s”!

Now to see behind the scenes of how the video was filmed, look below!
Check out this video, the stairs are made into a piano, complete with sounds! Who knows maybe a masterpiece will come out of it?! … probably not.
I know it shouldn’t be, but I think the sound the piano would make when someone fell down the stairs would be amusing, coupled with the visual aspect!
Almost like Tom and Jerry with sound effects…
