Allow me to introduce a cool London trio called Flash Fiktion who make some very catchy synth pop music. I have had a sneaky listen to their album which is out in March and it is full of danceable pop tracks with hooks galore. I like the fact that the band recorded the album by themselves saying, “We have done most of the recording without the help of studio producers. We’re not fans of working by committee!” I won’t compare them to any other band but take a listen to the track in the video below and see for yourself why I think they might do quite well this year!
You Don’t Want to Dance With Me is the new single from Monarchy featuring sultry vocals from Britt Love. The synth pop track is out on 24th October 2011 and is well worth a listen if I may say so myself! It’s catchy, it’s poppy but not in the mainstream sense and it has a little bit of an attitude. I do love Britt Love’s voice.
Hurts are a pop act from Manchester with music reminiscent of the 1980s. Their debut album is released on 6th September and is called Happiness. Think Ultravox crossed with Blancmange and you get Hurts with an injection of 2009/2010 – et voila another unoriginal reinvention! But… it works somehow.
Hurts recorded a cover of the Kylie Minogue classic, Confide In Me as part of the Sun Newspaper’s Biz Sessions.
Also… Kylie has recorded vocals for the Hurts song Devotion, which will be on Happiness.
The guitarist of Beth and the Black Cat Bones just told me about this. MGMT’s new album, Congratulations was leaked and so they have put it up on their website for you to stream!
I love this tune by British band Fenech-Soler. Synth pop at its best! I predict these guys will be big. They have catchy tunes and fantastic clothes, if you want more you’re just greedy.
Spot the sequins!
